The Estate

THE DOMAINE RURHOF IS, ABOVE ALL, THE WILD HORIZON OF THE FAGNES.
A LAND THAT MEETS THE SKY AT THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE COUNTRY.

A unique and preserved natural setting, inviting introspection and meditation. A blend of rustic charm and vast, solitary landscapes, the scenery is ideal for disconnecting from the stresses and pressures of daily life.

Built at the end of the 19th century by Emperor Wilhelm II of Prussia to create a model farm at the edge of the wild, the Rurhof has undergone many transformations throughout its history. Starting as farm, becoming a horse breeding facility with nearly 300 horses at its peak, and even a leisure lodge with 125 beds and a nightclub, this series of buildings can now enjoyed a more peaceful existence ever since our family acquired it in 2005, seeking harmony with the surrounding nature.

The estate is surrounded by 125 hectares of meadows where you may spot our Galloway cattle grazing freely, raised in compliance with the strictest organic standards.

With their thick coats, these robust little cows can endure harsh living conditions. They require little care, reproduce easily, and thrive on poor vegetation. Our Galloways feed exclusively on grass and forage from the Estate. Our farm is 100% organic certified (CERTISYS).

In addition to our cows, you’ll also see our horses. Organized into several herds, these magnificent creatures enjoy a peaceful and natural life in our large open spaces.

Located near Belgium’s largest nature park, you can enjoy numerous outdoor activities. From many walks, bike rides, or even cross-country skiing in winter, to visiting remarkable sites in the region such as Reinhardtstein, Stavelot Abbey, or the town of Monschau (Montjoie) in Germany. You will immerse yourself in the enchanting world of the Hautes Fagnes.
